Kathmandu: As per reports, the Nepali government has imposed a ban on the use of the share trading system (TMS) in all government offices during working hours, as announced by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Tuesday. The decision follows complaints that civil servants were engaging in share trading during office hours, distracting them from their official duties.
In a public statement, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of focusing on government tasks during office time, stating that conducting private business, particularly in the stock market, while in government service is unacceptable.
"It is not appropriate to engage in stock trading while working in government offices," Oli posted on his official Facebook page. He further noted that the practice had negatively impacted government operations and caused delays for service recipients.
Reportedly, to address these concerns, the government has officially prohibited the use of TMS in all government offices, including ministries, commissions, secretariats, and local-level offices. "I urge all civil servants to prioritize government work while in office," the Prime Minister said.
Additionally, a technical team is being formed to monitor the compliance of this directive and ensure that TMS is not being operated in any government office across the country.
