Guwahati: In adherence to the lead bank scheme guidelines, priority sector lending targets, and the framework for potential linked credit plans (PLPs), the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has projected PLP for the year is estimated at Rs 2,484.92 crore, with Rs 1,427.14 crore allocated for the agriculture sector, Rs 783.64 crore for the MSME sector, and Rs 274.14 crore for all other priority sectors.
The PLP for the fiscal year 2024-25 for Nagaon district, including Hojai, has been meticulously crafted by Rajendar Perna, District Development Manager (DDM) for Nagaon district.
NABARD has been diligently formulating PLPs for districts nationwide since 1989.
The PLP 2024-25 serves as a comprehensive roadmap, mapping both existing and potential developmental activities within the district. It emphasizes critical functional areas and outlines the necessary support required from financial institutions and line departments to foster development at various levels.
The PLP for 2024-25 has been categorized into five broad sectors, namely agriculture, MSME, export credit, education and housing, social infrastructure (including renewable energy), and others (informal/micro credit).
Rajendar Perna, in collaboration with the Centre, State government, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and NABARD has crafted the PLP after extensive consultations with the Lead District Manager (LDM), bankers, and all line departments. The overall supervision of Narendra Kr Shah, District Commissioner of Nagaon, and Hojai DC Lachit Kr Das ensured that the PLP aligns with the established priorities.
A notable aspect of the proposed PLP is its emphasis on augmenting credit flow for capital formation in agriculture and introducing innovative channels for the seamless delivery of rural credit in both farm and non-farm sectors. Additionally, the PLP incorporates various adaptation and mitigation strategies to promote climate-resilient agriculture, encompassing areas such as millets, floriculture, sericulture, jute, and pearl culture.
The official launch of the PLP 2024-25 for Nagaon (including Hojai) district took place during the DCC/DLRC meeting at the conference hall of the district commissioner's office. The District Development Commissioner of Nagaon, Gunajit Kashyap, officiated the launch in the presence of LDO, RBI, KK Singh, and other officials on Saturday, according to an official release.
