New Delhi: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday met with Union Ministers in a series of discussions to discuss various state development projects.
Upon meeting with Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, he made an urgent appeal for funding for the Meghalaya Economic Growth Accelerator Corridor Project. Sangma asked Jyotiraditya Scindia, the recently appointed Minister of DoNER, for the Center's assistance in financing infrastructure development initiatives in Meghalaya. He asked the Minister to think about giving Meghalaya and other northeastern states more funding under DoNER.
After the meeting, Scindia wrote on X, "Looking forward to working together and making positive strides for the progress of Meghalaya."
Sangma submitted the state government's plan to create Skill Parks in Tura and Shillong to Jayant Choudhury, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. These facilities are designed to help young people acquire their whole skill set so that they can move more easily from school to the workforce.
Sangma also met with Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, and asked for the Center's ongoing assistance in promoting Meghalaya's industrial growth. He conveyed his appreciation for the continuous support and talked about ways to improve the industrial sector in the state.
