Nine of 10 most valued firms lose Rs 2 lakh crore in Mcap as markets decline

New Delhi: Nine out of the top 10 highest-valued companies saw a significant decrease of Rs 2,09,952.26 crore in their market worth last week, reflecting the bearish market conditions, with Hindustan Unilever and Reliance Industries Limited being the most affected. The BSE benchmark plummeted by 1,822.46 points, a drop of 2.24 percent, last week. Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research) at Mehta Equities Ltd, stated that the disappointing Q2 earnings have worsened investors' concerns as ongoing FII selling has caused chaos in the market.

HDFC Bank Stands Out as Sole Gainer Amid Significant Market Capitalization Losses for Major Players

HDFC Bank was the sole winner among the top-10 pack. Hindustan Unilever's market value decreased by Rs 44,195.81 crore to Rs 5,93,870.94 crore. Reliance Industries experienced a drop in its valuation of Rs 41,994.54 crore, bringing it down to Rs 17,96,726.60 crore. The market capitalization of State Bank of India fell by Rs 35,117.72 crore to Rs 6,96,655.84 crore, while Bharti Airtel's market value dropped by Rs 24,108.72 crore to Rs 9,47,598.89 crore. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experienced a decrease of Rs 23,137.67 crore in market capitalisation (mcap), bringing it to Rs 14,68,183.73 crore.

The worth of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) decreased by Rs 19,797.24 crore to Rs 5,71,621.67 crore, while Infosys's value dropped by Rs 10,629.49 crore to Rs 7,69,496.61 crore. ITC's market capitalization decreased by Rs 5,690.96 crore to Rs 6,02,991.33 crore, while ICICI Bank's fell by Rs 5,280.11 crore to Rs 8,84,911.27 crore. But the market capitalization of HDFC Bank increased by Rs 46,891.13 crore to reach Rs 13,29,739.43 crore. Reliance Industries remained the top valued company, with TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, and LIC following closely behind.
