New Delhi: A senior executive at Maruti Suzuki India is aiming to increase sales of CNG vehicles to approximately 600,000 this fiscal year, a 25 percent rise from the previous fiscal year. On Wednesday, the biggest car manufacturer in the country introduced more CNG models by launching the premium hatchback Swift with S-CNG trims.
In this fiscal year, our goal is to sell approximately 600,000 CNG units. Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer Partho Banerjee mentioned that sales reached approximately 4.77 lakh units at the end of last year during an interview with PTI. During this fiscal's period from April to August, the automotive company has sold 2.21 lakh units so far, he mentioned.
The newest Swift is available in three different versions, with prices starting at Rs 8.19 lakh, Rs 8.46 lakh, and Rs 9.19 lakh. Banerjee claimed that the S-CNG models achieve a mileage of 32.85 kilometers per kilogram. The company was the first to introduce CNG vehicles in India in 2010. He added that we have sold more than 2 million S-CNG vehicles so far, leading to a notable decrease of 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. Banerjee stated that the company currently provides 14 models equipped with CNG technology. He pointed out that during the previous fiscal year, our company saw a 46.8 percent increase in CNG sales for passenger vehicles compared to the year 2022-23, maintaining a compound annual growth rate of approximately 28 percent since 2010.
