New Delhi: In a major transaction within the pharmaceutical industry, Mankind Pharma announced on Thursday that it will purchase Bharat Serums and Vaccines entirely from Advent International, a private equity investor, for approximately Rs 13,630 crore.
This strategic decision represents a major advancement for the pharmaceutical company, establishing its position as a top competitor in the Indian market for women's health and fertility drugs, as well as providing access to other high barrier entry products in critical care with well-developed advanced research and development technology platforms.
According to a statement from Mankind Pharma, the company has made a definitive agreement with Advent to purchase full ownership of Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) for approximately Rs 13,630 crore. Having more than 50 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, BSV has created recombinant and specialized biologic products internally, showcasing its impressive research and development skills. It was stated that they have a strong lineup of branded products in the areas of women's health, fertility, and critical care.

BSV generated a revenue of Rs 1,723 crore in FY24, achieving a 20 percent year-on-year growth with adjusted EBITDA Margins at 28 percent. Mankind Pharma is among the biggest pharmaceutical companies in India that prioritizes the local market. It is found in both acute and chronic therapeutic categories such as anti-infectives, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and antidiabetic.
