Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurates C-DOT 5G Lab at Department of ECE, Gauhati University

Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region of India, initiated the 5G Lab developed by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) at Gauhati University.

The lab is a step in advancing telecommunications education and study in the region, as India has made important paces in the telecommunications sector, particularly with the nationwide placement of 5G technology.

Scindia Inaugurates 5G Lab

Under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision, the Government of India has positively advanced an indigenous 4G/5G stack, currently being rolled out in the BSNL network. This inauguration paves the way for exploring new 5G applications and the development of 6G technology.

The need for cost-effective 5G test labs in universities has become imperative, as thousands of engineering colleges across the country strive to stay current with emerging technologies. C-DOT has designed an reasonable 5G test bed solution for academic institutions, making advanced telecommunications training more accessible.

The newly inaugurated 5G test lab at Gauhati University will provide students, researchers, and faculty with hands-on experience in various aspects of 5G technology, including 3GPP specifications for 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core networks, exploring new 5G applications and enhancing system capabilities, and conducting advanced research to drive 6G innovation and intellectual property (IPR) generation.
