Indo-US partnership for ‘global good’, say PMs

Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden on Thursday said the diverse partnership between the two nations will serve the global good.

Modi expressed confidence that the partnership between India and America can make a significant contribution to global peace, stability, and prosperity. The leaders recognised the crucial role of technology in deepening their partnership and hailed the inauguration of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) as a major milestone. They called for an open, accessible, and secure technology ecosystem based on mutual confidence and trust.

The US-India Major Defence Partnership was highlighted as a pillar of global peace and security. The two countries have made substantial progress in building an advanced and comprehensive defence partnership through joint exercises, defence-industrial cooperation, and other consultative mechanisms. They also reiterated their commitment to strengthen maritime security cooperation and expand dialogues in new defence domains, such as space and artificial intelligence.

The leaders also emphasized the importance of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and fostering inclusive growth.
