Indian Tourist Arrivals in Singapore Rise 13% in First Nine Months of 2024

Singapore: Indian tourist arrivals in Singapore surged by 13 percent in the first nine months of 2024, reaching 898,180 visitors, according to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The figures released today, come as Singapore gears up for its festive season, with celebrations centred around the iconic shopping district of Orchard Road. India currently stands as Singapore's third-largest tourism market, following Southeast Asian nations like Indonesia and China. 

Last year, Singapore saw over one million Indian visitors, an STB representative stated at the unveiling of the year-end festivities organised by the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA). Industry experts noted that Singapore's commitment to attracting international tourists, particularly as a popular year-end destination for Indian travellers. 

Orchard Road Festivities to Honor Migrant Workers with Special Experiences

Alongside the festivities, ORBA has planned special experiences for migrant workers, many of whom are from India, Bangladesh, and China, to honour their contributions to Singapore’s economy. Arrangements include complimentary open-top bus tours along Orchard Road for these workers, allowing them to enjoy the holiday lights and decorations.

ORBA is collaborating with various agencies and NGOs to coordinate schedules for these workers, who will be joined by healthcare staff and individuals facing economic or physical challenges. The three-month-long Orchard Road festival, starting on November 1, 2024, and running until January 31, 2025, is expected to draw 4-5 million visitors. ORBA Chairman Mark Shaw announced that these guests will receive special treats at the Christmas Village, reinforcing Orchard Road’s appeal as a top lifestyle and shopping destination for both locals and tourists.
