India records 5.62 lakh tonnes of sugar exports in FY22-23: AISTA

New Delhi: India has exported 5.62 lakh tonnes of sugar during the current 2022–23 fiscal year, according to trade body AISTA.

The government authorised the export of 60 lakh tonnes of sugar in November for the current marketing year (2022–2023). (October-September).

According to All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) reports, the sugar mills' dispatched for exports totaled 12.19 lakh tonnes, of which 5.62 lakh tonnes have been physically shipped as of December 9 of the current marketing year.

In the aforementioned period, the UAE received the most sugar exports, followed by Bangladesh, Indonesia, Somalia, and other countries, according to a statement from the company.

According to the statement, 5.22 lakh tonnes of sugar are now being loaded or are ready to be loaded.

In the fiscal year 2021–2022, India exported a record-breaking 111 lakh tonnes of sugar.
