New Delhi: According to Meta, India has an impressive number of Threads users, with over 175 million active users per month worldwide. The update is important because it signifies almost a year since Meta officially introduced a competitor to Twitter (now X).

Seeing Threads reach 175 million users has made it a space where people are comfortable sharing thoughts and ideas. Meta stated in a release that India is among the most engaged countries for Threads worldwide. In India, the most trending tags and topics on Threads are focused on movies, television, OTT content, discussions about celebrities, and sports.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Threads has more than 175 million users who are active on a monthly basis, as the company emphasized that Threads was created with the idea that "every individual has important thoughts to share".

"It has been a year, and we are observing it transform into a space where individuals feel at ease expressing their thoughts and ideas." According to the statement, India is actually one of the most engaged nations for Threads worldwide. One of the key findings is the establishment of 50 million topic tags on Threads worldwide.

Meta said that cricket has been dominating Threads in India, with a range of players, experts, and international cricketers expressing their love for the game, including current Indian squad members such as Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, former cricketers like Akash Chopra and Suresh Raina, as well as experts like Ridhima Pathak and international cricketers like AB de Villiers.

The T20 Cricket World Cup, IPL, and Women's Premier League 2024 have stirred cricket discussions on Threads this year, with over 200 creators sharing updates on the recently concluded IPL season. Threads reached new heights soon after its debut in July 2023.
