Inclusive Job fair organised in Guwahati; aimed at empowering jobseekers

Guwahati: National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSCDA), Guwahati and NCSC-for SC/STS, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India jointly organised an 'Inclusive Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and Non-disabled Job Seekers' on the campus of NCSC-DA, Guwahati on Thursday.

The event is part of a series of outcome-based programmes being organized by NCSC-DA and NCSC-DA, subordinate offices of Directorate General & Employment, Ministry of Labour & Employment, during the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from March 7 to 13, an official release said.

Nabajyoti Bora, General Manager, HR, CSR, Guwahati Refinery was the chief guest of the event. Bhaskar Mukharjee DGM-Finance, Debdoot Sen, Senior Manager, Engineering Service, and Jiaur Rahman, Asst Manager-CSR Guwahati Refinery, IOCI, Guwahati were guests of honour.

Ram Kishor Sharma, Head-NCSC-DA (Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya), Government of India, presided over the inaugural programme.

A total of seven companies including SBI Life Insurance, Saraighat-Hyundai, Technowell Services Pvt Ltd, Bikozee Ecotech Pvt Ltd, Free launch Counseling Services, Quick Shoppe and Spaces Facility Management, etc… participated in the job fair.

The companies notified about 229 vacancies like executives, AC technicians, assistant managers, home sales officers, business development executives, housekeeping, etc., offering salaries between Rs 6,000 to 50,000 per month besides other benefits like EPF, ESI, etc. The qualifications ranged from non-matriculates to graduate-level including ITI passed.

A total of 280 job seekers (130 disabled, including SC/STs, participated in the job fair Narrotam Doley, representative of Nationa Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC) screened 26 persons with disabilities for soft loans under NHFDC schemes.
