New Delhi: Theatres across India are set to thrill movie buffs with a special offer: tickets priced at an enticing Rs 99 for Cinema Lovers Day on May 31. This initiative, encompassing both multiplexes and single screens, aims to kickstart the summer holiday season with a cinematic extravaganza.

Participating in this groundbreaking campaign are top multiplex chains including PVR Inox, Cinepolis India, Miraj Cinemas, Multa A2, and MovieMax. Kamal Gianchandani, the head of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and CEO of PVR Inox Pictures, unveiled the details, highlighting the widespread nature of the initiative, spanning 4,000 screens nationwide.

Gianchandani elaborated on the offer, stating, “Movie tickets will be available for Rs 99 each, with premium formats like recliners excluded. However, a significant portion, approximately 90-95 percent of seats, will be available at this discounted rate." He further revealed that many single screens will surpass this offer, offering tickets for as low as Rs 70.

The offer is seen as a bid to lay the groundwork for a bustling summer season at the box office. While acknowledging that the one-day promotion may not substantially alter overall box office figures, Gianchandani said he believes it will provide the "necessary impetus" as the industry gears up for a flurry of releases in June.

Premium Formats Excluded; Additional Charges Apply:

While the Rs 99 ticket price promises affordable entertainment, it's important to note that premium movie formats such as IMAX and recliners will not be covered under this offer, adhering to regular pricing. Additionally, moviegoers should factor in convenience fees and GST (Goods and Services Tax), typically added during online bookings.
