Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said all three units of the Ganol Hydro Power plant in Garo Hills have been synchronised with the grid, “raising the estimated annual production to 65MU”.
“This marks a significant milestone in our journey towards self-sufficiency of power. Thanks to everyone, who made this possible,” Sangma tweeted.
In January this year, Sangma inaugurated one of the three units of the 22.5-MW project near Tura. The Rs 560-crore project is expected to ease the acute power crisis in the state.
The Ganol Hydroelectric plant harnesses the natural flow of the Ganol River for electricity by using three turbine-generator units, each with a capacity of 7.5 MW. The project was commissioned in 2014.
