DETROIT: Ford Motor saw a significant rise in its U.S. vehicle sales in August, climbing 13.4 percent compared to the same period last year. The increase was primarily fueled by robust demand for the automaker's F-Series trucks and hybrid models.

Ford reported Thursday that nearly 183,000 vehicles were sold during the month. Truck sales saw a 12.3 percent boost, while hybrid vehicle sales surged by approximately 50 percent year-over-year. Electric vehicle sales also experienced a 29 percent growth, with the F-150 Lightning pickup contributing notably to the increase.

Despite the growing popularity of electrified vehicles, traditional internal combustion engine cars and trucks still accounted for 86 percent of Ford's total sales in August.

The automaker's sales growth surpassed industry expectations, which predicted around a 6% increase for the month, according to Barclays.
