Michigan: Ford announced on Wednesday that its sales increased by 1 percent  during the second quarter compared to the same period last year, driven by a notable 5 percent growth in truck sales.

As per reports, the automaker reported that truck sales, encompassing pickups and vans, reached 308,920 vehicles, marking Ford's strongest second-quarter performance in this category since 2019. Specifically, sales of the F-Series totaled 199,463 vehicles.

Electric vehicle sales also saw significant gains for Ford, with 23,957 units sold during the quarter, reflecting a robust 61 percent increase. The company attributed this growth to strong demand for models such as the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, which are attracting new customers.

Additionally, Ford set a new quarterly sales record for hybrid vehicles, selling 53,822 units—an increase of 56 percent  compared to last year. This achievement underscores Ford's strategy to leverage hybrids amid the industry's transition to electric vehicles and tightening federal fuel efficiency standards.

Ford's update follows General Motors' announcement on Tuesday of a 0.6 percent  year-over-year increase in second-quarter sales, totaling 696,086 vehicles. Both automakers' modest sales gains outpaced expectations within the overall market, which industry forecasters, including Cox Automotive and Edmunds, predicted to remain relatively flat year over year.
