The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) is organizing a Twin Expo, two trade shows on architecture, building, construction, design, engineering, raw materials, and allied industries at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati from 16 to18 December, with Evantage, a New Delhi based event management firm.

The twin expos will be the North East Build Expo 2022 and Northeast Wood Expo 2022.

Project Manager, Chirag Tyagi said that currently 120 participants, both local and from across the country have registered for the expos, which is expected to go up to 150.

Both the expo being Business to Business (B2B), the attempt is to facilitate networking in the Northeastern region which serves as a gateway to India’s upcoming International Economic Zone.

While the Build Expo is for Building Construction expansion and networking, the Wood Expo is for Woodworking, Furniture Manufacturing, and Allied Industries as it seeks to provide the industry with opportunities for business expansion and networking in the Northeast.

The Build Expo will give the opportunity to the participants (traders dealing with the building industry) to expand the opportunity to introduce or expand their brand in Northeast India. It will provide the participants scope to explore and analyze the market to formulate a suitable marketing strategy. The participant can thus meet potential dealers and distributors from the Northeast region. They will also get an opportunity to develop a network with trade delegations and associations to facilitate larger business expansions among members.

Notably, India is the largest growing market with exponential growth in Agro-Forestry, tourism, and infrastructure.

Tyagi mentioned that FINER has plans for afforestation after the wood is cut from its stem in the same location. He was quick to add that the wood used is generally from dead trees.

According to the organizer, the Northeast is an important destination for both types of the industry due to its geographic proximity to countries such Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, and Nepal. According to them, India’s Northeast region not only provides new opportunities for domestic business but is an ideal region for international trade as well.

According to Government of India data, approximately an amount of Rs. 2, 65, 51croresre has been spent on various infrastructure projects in the Northeast region from the year 2014 to March 2021. Hence they believe that the region possesses immense untapped potential.

The exhibition is expected to usher new opportunities for the region in the area of build and wood businesses.
