California: Starting mid-October, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ subscription costs will increase by 1 dollars to 2 dollars per month, as detailed in a press release on Tuesday. Hulu's most expensive plans, which include live TV, will see a 6 dollars monthly increase.

The new pricing for Disney+ will be 9.99 dollars for the basic plan and 15.99 dollars for the premium plan. Hulu with ads will cost 9.99 dollars per month, while the ad-free version will be 18.99 dollars monthly. ESPN+, which includes ads, will be priced at 11.99 dollars per month.

These price hikes are part of Disney's strategy to encourage customers to opt for bundled services, offering greater value. For some time, Disney has provided bundles of its services, such as Hulu and Disney+ or those two services plus ESPN+. The current Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will increase by 1 dollars to 10.99 dollars per month this fall, while the ad-free version remains at 19.99 dollars per month.

Additionally, Disney has collaborated with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a new bundle, featuring Disney+, Hulu, and Max. Announced in July, this bundle will be available for 16.99 dollars with ads and 29.99 dollars without ads, providing a 38 percent savings compared to purchasing each service separately.

Disney aims to attract subscribers by adding ABC News Live and a preschool content playlist, available to all subscribers starting September 4. Four additional curated playlists will be introduced for premium subscribers.

Alisa Bowen, president of Disney+, stated in the release, “Playlists are the latest example of how we’re providing the best value and experience for our subscribers every time they open Disney+.”

Disney is set to report its fiscal third-quarter earnings before the market opens on Wednesday.
