Guwahati: The Deeksharambha, the induction program for newly admitted Master's and PhD students at Royal Global University, commenced today with an inspiring address by Pradyut Manikya Deb Barma, scion of the erstwhile Royal family of Tripura. In his thought-provoking speech, Deb Barma emphasized that the university is not merely a place to acquire knowledge but also a forum for exploring diverse subjects and life itself. He underscored universities as platforms for critical inquiry, debate, and resolution of academic and intellectual differences.

Deb Barma urged students to cultivate strong character rooted in honesty and integrity, highlighting their importance in fostering courage to confront injustice, oppression, and denial. Additionally, he encouraged students to embody kindness, love, and empathy towards others.

Following Deb Barma, Professor Amarjyoti Chaudhury, an eminent academic and former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, addressed the gathering. Professor Chaudhury elaborated on the significance of Deeksharambha, linking "Deeksha" (initiation) with "Shiksha" (education). He emphasized the role of empathy and values in education, asserting these as fundamental markers of true learning. Reflecting on technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence, Professor Chaudhury stressed the need to harness technology for simplification without allowing it to dictate or control human life.

The program commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Alak K. Buragohain, the Interim Vice Chancellor, and Professor Ankur Ganguly, Dean of Academics, who extended greetings to the distinguished speakers and students.
