Guwahati: In a move to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth, the government of Assam has started an initiative—Assam Startup Fest 2023. 
Spearheaded by Bimal Borah, the Minister for Industries and Commerce, this platform aims to create a fertile ground for startups to flourish, while also honoring and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state.

Bimal Borah, in an exclusive interview with Business-NorthEast, emphasized that the primary objective of Assam Startup Fest 2023 is to galvanize a wave of innovative ideas that not only contribute to the growth of the state's economy but also enrich the entrepreneurial ecosystem. 

The festival stands as a testament to the government's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and promoting Assam as the ultimate startup destination.
Borah firmly believes that the key to unlocking Assam's startup potential lies in its cultural diversity and traditional heritage. He cited examples like Xali Chira, Black Rice Pasta, and Brown Rice, all homegrown products that encapsulate the essence of Assam's identity. By harnessing these cultural treasures, Assam can position itself as a catalyst for startups, fostering a robust connection between commerce, culture, and tourism.

The ultimate aspiration of the government is to shift the paradigm from Made in China to Made in Assam, Made in India. 
Borah envisions a future where the state's entrepreneurs carve a niche for themselves by leveraging their unique cultural offerings.  By blending the traditions of Assam with cutting-edge business ideas, startups have the potential to captivate not only the domestic market but also international consumers.
