Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the first phase of Guwahati's Smart Street Lighting Project with Centralized Control and Monitoring Systems (CCMS). Implemented under Guwahati Smart City Limited, this phase includes the installation of 10,000 smart streetlights, covering 944 lanes, at an estimated cost of ₹83.96 crore.

The project integrates advanced cloud-based technology for remote management and adjustment of streetlight intensity. A web-based CCMS ensures efficient control and monitoring, contributing to better management of urban lighting across the city.

During the inauguration, Dr. Sarma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving Guwahati's infrastructure. He highlighted other key urban development projects, including new bridges, automatic traffic signals, CCTV installations, and a water supply project expected to be completed by December 2024, benefiting 150,000 residents with new connections.
