Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Rameswar Teli, Minister of State, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and Employment flagged off nine ONGC aided advanced lifesaving ambulances (ADLS) in Assam on November 3. The inauguration took place in the Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, on the occasion of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
After flagging off the ambulances, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma lauded the initiative of ONGC for augmenting the healthcare facilities in Assam.
The ONGC Foundation has extended support of Rs 4.38 crore for these ambulances including four years annual maintenance contract.
ONGC aided ambulances to be equipped with pre-hospital care equipment “The advanced life-saving ambulances, with a wide range of pre-hospital care equipment such transport ventilators, defibrillator, suction apparatus, nebulizer, oxygen supply, etc. These ambulances shall cater to medical emergencies covering neonatal support, trauma, maternity and accident cases”, said a press release.
Further, the press release added, “These ambulances will be managed by Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat, Medical College and Hospital, Silchar, Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur, Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta, Medical College and Hospital, Lakhimpur; Diphu Medical & Hospital, Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital.”
Speaking on the occasion, MoS, MoPNG Rameswar Teli termed ONGC’s CSR initiative as historic. “Such advanced ambulances are indicators of progress of the Assam State,” said Teli.
On this occasion, Director, Onshore Anurag Sharma reaffirmed the commitment of ONGC towards the progress of people of Assam. “Dr Sarma handed over a symbolic key of the advanced lifesaving ambulance to the principal of Assam Medical College, Dr Sanjib Kakoty,” said a press release.
The flagging-off ceremony was graced by senior officials like ED-Basin Manager Assam & Assam Arakan Basin, Sushma Rawat, ED-Asset Manager, Assam Asset R K Sharma and ED-Chief-CSR, ONGC, A P Singh.
ONGC is on its way to build 300-bed multi-specialty hospital. “In continuation to its endeavors, ONGC is establishing a multi-specialty 300 bed hospital, in Sivasagar (Swargadew-Siu-Ka-Pha Hospital). It is being built at a project cost of Rs 483 crore in three phases. Since the inauguration of its first phase in March 2019, it has treated about 61,500 OPD patients. The Dialysis Centre of the Hospital has catered to 16500 patients till date,” said a press release. During the event, referring to the multi-specialty hospital at Sivasagar supported by ONGC, Teli highlighted that quality healthcare for the commoners is one of the key objectives of CSR initiatives of the company.
On the occasion, a film depicting the CSR initiatives of ONGC for the socio-economic development of Assam was also screened.
