Guwahati: The Indian government has reopened the application window for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (ACs and LED Lights) for 90 days from 15 July to 12 October. This move is based on the growing industry appetite for investment in ACs and LED lights, as well as the confidence generated due to manufacturing key components in India under the PLIWG Scheme.

The application window will remain open on the same online portal as before, with no application accepted after the closure. To avoid discrimination, both new and existing beneficiaries of PLIWG who wish to invest more by switching over to higher target segments or their group companies applying under different target segments are eligible to apply.

Existing beneficiaries can submit claims as per their original investment plan if they cannot achieve the threshold investment or sales in a given year.

The government has decided to introduce a system of quarterly claims processing instead of an annual basis to maintain liquidity, better-working capital management, and enhance operational efficiency.

Currently, 66 applicants with committed investments of Rs 6,962 crore have been selected as beneficiaries under the PLI scheme. Companies such as Daikin, Votas, Hinduco, Amber, PG Technoplast, EPACK, Metube, LG, Blue Star, Johnson Hitachi, Panasonic, Haier, MIDEA, Havells, IFB, Nidec, Lucas, Swaminatan, and Triton Valleys have invested in AC components, while companies like DIXON, R K Lighting, Radhika Opto, Surya, ORIENT, SIGNIFY, Cormptons Graves, Stove Kraft, Cosmo Films, Halosin, Cheneng, Fulham, ADSUN, Inventrontix, and Luker have invested in LED light components.

These investments will lead to the manufacturing of components of ACs and LED lights across the complete value chain, including components not currently manufactured in India.
