Guwahati: Cashless healthcare soon for NFSA cardholders
The Assam government will provide cashless healthcare facilities of up to Rs 5 lakh annually for the National Food Security Act cardholders at the beginning of the Financial Year 2023-24.
Dispur took this decision following an advisory note from the Centre. According to the Health Department sources, Mukhya Matri Ayushman Asom Yojana (MMAAY) has the objective of achieving the government’s long-term goal of ensuring that every citizen has access to affordable and quality healthcare.
The State Annual Budget presented on March 16 has an allocation of Rs 135 crore on this yojana. The government will launch MMAAY during the Prime Minister’s visit.
The Health Department has already started the e-KYC programme to issue cashless healthcare facility cards among the beneficiaries.
The sources in the department said people who have Atal Amrit cards can also avail of the cashless healthcare facilities, which will give the beneficiaries access to government hospitals in the state and some empanelled private hospitals in the state and outside the state.
