Guwahati: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the development of eight National High-Speed Road Corridor projects, totaling 936 km and costing Rs, 50,655 crore.
These projects aim to improve logistics efficiency, reduce congestion, and enhance connectivity across India. The implementation of these projects is expected to generate an estimated 4.42 crore mandays of direct and indirect employment.
Project highlights include the 6th-Lane Agra - Gwalior National High-Speed Corridor, which will reduce travel time between Agra and Gwalior by 50%, enhancing connectivity to key tourist destinations and reducing logistics costs. The 4th-Lane Kharagpur - Moregram National High-Speed Corridor will transform the economy of West Bengal and the North-East, reducing freight vehicle travel time from 9-10 hours to 3-5 hours.
The 6th-Lane Tharad - Deesa - Mehsana - Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor will complete the high-speed road network in Gujarat, providing seamless port connectivity and reducing logistics costs.
The 4th-Lane Section between Pathalgaon and Gumla of Raipur-Ranchi National High-Speed Corridor will unlock growth in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, enhancing connectivity between key mining and industrial areas.
The 6th-Lane Kanpur Ring Road will decongest highway networks around Kanpur, improving logistics efficiency.
The Northern Guwahati Bypass and Improvement of Existing Guwahati Bypass will provide seamless connectivity to the North-East, easing congestion on major highways around Guwahati. The 8th-Lane Elevated Nashik Phata - Khed Corridor near Pune will eliminate logistics nightmares, providing seamless high-speed connectivity for traffic between Pune and Nashik.
