Guwahati: The 9th edition of Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) has unveiled an exciting lineup at the Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio in Guwahati on November 21, 2024. Festival Director Tanushree Hazarika shared the schedule of the much-anticipated upcoming festival featuring a diverse selection of feature films, documentaries, and short films. The festival scheduled from December 5 to December 8, 2024 will showcase the cinematic skills of artists from Northeast India and other regions.
Tanushree Hazarika stressed that BVFF goes beyond being simply a film festival, characterizing it as a commemoration of powerful narratives that motivate and fuel creativity. She emphasized the festival's goal of showcasing films that connect with viewers, bring together filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, and celebrate the vibrant culture of Northeast India.

This year, more than 220 film submissions were received for the festival, which will include both competitive and non-competitive sections. The collection guarantees to engage viewers with exceptional pieces that demonstrate the impact of storytelling. The goal of the festival is to establish the region as a vibrant center for international film. Creative Director Pallavi Barua said the festival honors cinema in its most authentic state, showcasing movies that both entertain and stimulate creativity and contemplation.
An esteemed group of jurors will evaluate the festival. The panel for judging Documentary & Short Films consists of Asha Kuthari Chaudhuri (Gauhati University Professor), Murtaza Ali Khan (Film Critic and Curator), and Kalpana Nair (IMDb India). The Feature Films jury includes well-known industry professionals like Nitin Baid, Anvita Dutt, Abhishek Chaubey, Shreya Dev Dube, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. This year's special screenings feature Mithya (Kannada) directed by Sumanth Bhat, Zende: The Supercop by Tushar Haware, Chashma by Nitin Baid, Angammal (Tamil) by Vipin Radhakrishnan, and Boong by Lakshmipriya Devi.

In its 9th year, the BVFF remains a prestigious film festival in India, recognizing cinematic brilliance and impacting filmmakers and audiences.
