Guwahati: More than 50,000 people from different backgrounds were recruited at the Rozgar Mela held across the country yesterday, marking a significant stride towards eradicating unemployment woes for the youth.

In Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed appointment letters via video conferencing while Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal personally handed them over to candidates in a ceremony held at Guwahati.

Praveer Nandi from Lumding, Assam was recruited as a TGT Physical Education teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Golaghat. He expressed his happiness to Business North East and said that he would like to attribute his success to his hard work, his parents, and teachers who guided him throughout his life. "It has always been my dream to work in this sector", he emphasized.

According to a government release, the newly appointed recruits, hailing from various corners of the nation, will be joining different ministries and departments, including but not limited to the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Higher Education, and Ministry of Defence, among others.

Modi, addressing the recruits, emphasized the government's commitment to providing employment opportunities for the youth and highlighted efforts to uplift those who have been neglected. Recent studies indicate that more than 13 crore people have risen out of poverty in the last five years.

Speaking about the ongoing 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra', a campaign to take government schemes directly to citizens, the Prime Minister urged recruits to dedicate their time to "serving the people." He pointed out the ongoing infrastructure revolution, including modern highways, railway stations, airports, and waterways, generating lakhs of new jobs through substantial investments.

Emphasizing the responsibilities of government employees, PM Modi underscored the importance of prioritizing the 'ease of living' for the common people. He urged the new appointees to engage with the 'Karmyogi Prarambh' learning module, offering more than 800 courses on the online training platform iGoT Karmayogi to enhance their skills.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, speaking at the occasion, expressed the government's commitment to providing opportunities for the youth to actively participate in nation-building. "With the Rozgar Mela", he noted, "lakhs of qualified youth have joined efforts to make India Atmanirbhar Bharat by 2047."

Modi also highlighted the government's success in rapidly reviewing and completing projects worth lakhs of crores, citing examples like the Bidar Kalburgi railway line and Pakyong airport in Sikkim. He pointed out the transformative impact of the RERA law on the real estate sector, emphasizing its role in establishing transparency, boosting investment, and creating over one lakh registered projects.

Concluding, Modi showcased India's economic growth, citing global optimism from noted institutions. He expressed confidence in the abundant possibilities for employment and self-employment that will continue to emerge in India in the coming times, reinforcing the nation's position as the world's fifth-largest economy, with aspirations to be among the top three by 2030.
