GUWAHATI: Assam has unveiled an urban services app available as 'DoHUA Assam Unified Services' in the Play Store. Additionally, an upgraded web portal (https://assamurban.in/) has also been introduced for the ease of urban dwellers in the state.

This integrated platform aims to simplify and enhance public access to online municipal services throughout the state.

Some of the facilities that are available in the application are linked to property tax, trade licences, water connection, hoarding permission, cesspool request, film shooting, field booking, and hall bookings.

Citizens can also submit their grievances linked to the above matters as well as about any issue linked to street lights in Guwahati as well. In essence, services provided by municipal bodies, including the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, can now be accessed through their smartphones.

However, the name of the app may change shortly, sources in the ministry informed Business North East.

Simultaneously, the web portal acts as a centralized hub, aggregating information from various departments within the housing and urban affairs department and allows people to access departmental services online.

The portal also introduces innovative features such as GPS tracking of municipal vehicles and resolution mechanisms. It offers detailed insights into municipal bodies, encompassing maps, demographics, mayor and ward member details, municipal assets, program activities, and tender information.

Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal, who launched the new services on Friday, underscored the pivotal role of this integrated platform as it will enable citizens to access services conveniently from the comfort of their homes. "This initiative reflects the government's commitment to fostering efficiency and transparency in municipal services across Assam", said Singhal.
