Guwahati: The Assam Trade Promotion Organisation (ATPO) is set to embark on a first of its kind initiative by organizing six International Trade Fairs, spanning across major cities in Assam.
These trade fairs, a first of their kind outside Guwahati, aim to facilitate cross-border trade partnerships and showcase the rich craftsmanship of local artisans. Countries like Bangladesh and Bhutan have confirmed their participation, further solidifying regional economic ties.
ATPO Chairman, Mr. Sunil Deka, talking to Business North East (BNE) said that this ambitious endeavor comes as part of their commitment to bolstering Assam's economic growth and exploring untapped trade potential in various regions.
"This is a significant milestone for ATPO as we extend the scope of international trade fairs beyond Guwahati. By taking these events to Tezpur, Nalbari, Kokrajhar, Dibrugarh, Silchar, and Kokrajhar, we aim to tap into diverse markets and showcase the incredible products from these regions," Deka told BNE.
The trade fairs are scheduled to commence on December 23, coinciding with last year's successful events. The prestigious Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati will serve as the focal point for these gatherings.
In an effort to promote global trade collaborations, the trade fairs will welcome esteemed representatives from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Bhutan.
"The presence of Bangladesh and Bhutan in our trade fairs emphasizes the potential of our region as a hub for cross-border trade. We see this as an opportunity to explore new markets, showcase our indigenous products, and create a platform for fruitful business partnerships," Mr. Deka pointed out.
The participating foreign countries are expected to showcase a diverse range of products, providing local businesses with unique opportunities to explore new markets and expand their reach.
Additionally, the fairs will also celebrate the artistry and craftsmanship of Assam's talented local artisans, further enriching the event's cultural significance.
The International Trade Fairs hold enormous promise for both Assam's economy and the broader regional landscape. With the active involvement of esteemed partners like Bangladesh and Bhutan, the event is poised to foster economic integration and cultural exchange, benefitting all participating nations.
