The Assam Cabinet has given a green signal to revise the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for State Government staff and pensioners, raising it from the current 53 per cent to 55 per cent of basic pay/pension.

The revised rate is effective from January 1, 2025, and will benefit more than 7.38 lakh government service holders across Assam. The enhanced DA/DR rate shall be paid along with the monthly salary/pension for March 2025, paid in April 2025, according to the Office Memorandum dispensed by the Finance (Estt-A) Department.

Moreover, arrears for the period from January 1, 2025, to February 28, 2025, will be paid in two equal payments—one in May 2025 and the other in June 2025.

The hike applies to:

* All serving State Government staff
* State Government pensioners and family retirees
* Extra Ordinary Pension holders, and
* Compassionate Family Pension holders
