Guwahati: The Assam state government has announced the provision of 1,24,345 jobs, with the appointment of 23,959 teachers. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a series of new benefits for these newly appointed educators, including the inclusion of pensions under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) and the introduction of 'Apon Ghar' home loans, which require no collateral.

The state government has pledged to collaborate with the State Bank of India to expedite the processing of these loans.

In a compassionate move, the government has also ensured that if a teacher passes away during service, their family will receive the full salary for the remainder of the service period.

This latest recruitment drive demonstrates growth with 4,779 candidates selected by the end of 2021, 35,130 in 2022, and 55,593 in subsequent years. Additionally, another 4,887 individuals were added to the employment list by August 26, 2024.

The government plans to create 50,000 new jobs, aiming to boost employment and strengthen the public sector workforce across various departments and services.

In a bid to further bolster staffing in underserved regions, the government announced that teachers who commit to working in remote areas will be awarded additional marks during their selection process.
