Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet on August 26 approved the Semiconductor Policy 2023 in a bid to attract semiconductor manufacturing units and electronic production in the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “This policy will provide a production-linked incentive if any industrial comes forward for semiconductor production.”
States like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha already have a semiconductor policy.
“We want Assam to pace up in the semiconductor production like the other advanced states and so our cabinet adopted and published the policy on Assam Semiconductor Manufacturing and electronic production,” said Sarma.
“We have extended the production-linked incentive, and capital subsidy under the Assam Semiconductor Policy 2023 so that we can be at par with other states in bringing semiconductor to our state. With our new production-linked incentive policy, Assam will soon attract investments to manufacture semiconductors in the State,” he added.
