Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revised the development of work on the new cricket stadium and swimming pool at Amingaon today. It is part of the state government’s thrust to boost Assam’s sports infrastructure to international standards.

The Assam government has been progressively improving sporting facilities through the state to host national and international events and nurture talent from both urban and rural areas.

As a key component of this initiative, construction is happening on a 20,000‑seat cricket stadium and a nearby swimming pool at Amingaon.

Addressing to the media, Sarma highlighted that, alongside the Sarusajai Sports Complex and Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the Amingaon venue will be capable of hosting One Day Internationals, T20 matches, and other major events by early 2026.

“This stadium will offer athletes a sporting facility following to international standards,” he said, adding that phased development will include other access ways, plenty parking, and public facilities.
