Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid foundation stones for several developmental projects in Dhemaji. A total of projects worth Rs. 1220.21 crore was launched by CM in the district.
According to CM, the state government is trying to transform the perception of Dhemaji district from one of a flood-ravaged area to one of a developed and forward-thinking area.
On Friday, Sarma laid the groundwork for and launched projects in the Dhemaji district as part of the "Bikakhor Babe Eta Pokhek" (A fortnight for Development Initiatives) programme, which aims to reframe the district's development story.
As part of the effort, the chief minister laid the foundation for a new medical college and hospital at Dhemaji that will cost Rs 605.24 crore, an integrated DC Office at Dhemaji that will cost Rs 49.89 crore, a district sports stadium complex at Deoribil that will cost Rs 50.53 crore, and a minor stadium at Silapathar that will cost Rs 12.36 crore.
He also laid the foundation for the upgradation of ITI, Dhemaji, and Dhemaji Polytechnic at a cost of Rs. 5.03 crore each and the building of different highways at a cost of Rs. 497.09 crore.
The CM advised various organisations to discard the bandh and dharna mentality and create a work environment that would revitalise the social environment, boost indigenous culture, agriculture, and other areas of the state's economy.
Chief Minister further highlighted future development plans for Dhemaji and stated that all high schools in the district will have their facilities updated in stages at a cost of Rs 7 to Rs 8 crore apiece.
Moreover, a milk processing facility would be built in the area.
