Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma evaluated four major projects for a combined sum of Rs 263 crore, three of which are located in Guwahati.

Sarma reviewed the status of four major projects in Guwahati at a recent review meeting: the ITA Machkhowa, a state-of-the-art stadium in Kokrajhar, Rabindra Bhawan, and the Guwahati District Library.

Sarma allocated Rs 51 crore for the first project and gave the relevant authorities instructions to create a new design that integrated an 800-seat auditorium with the district library.

Sarma ordered the construction of two auditoriums at Rabindra Bhawan, one with 500 seats and the other with 300 seats, together with two rehearsal halls, for a total of Rs 112 crore.

Sarma highlighted consulting with the Auditorium Committee for the ITA Machkhowa restoration with an estimated bugging of 6 crores.

Additionally, Rs 94 crore would be allocated for necessary sports facilities, mostly for football, to the ongoing development of the state-of-the-art stadium in Kokrajhar. The Chief Minister's Office said, "At a cost of Rs 94 crore, equip the new state-of-the-art stadium in Kokrajhar with vital sports amenities, including those for football."
