Guwahati: The Assam government approved road and water projects worth Rs 419 crore on January 1 during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to boost the road and water infrastructure in Assam.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Assam Cabinet has approved 104 rural connectivity and infrastructure projects valued at Rs 210.8 crore, benefiting residents in 12 districts.
Additionally, Rs 207.92 crore has been allocated under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) for drinking water supply projects in Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur and North Lakhimpur.
In a move to streamline administrative processes, the Cabinet also approved an online portal facilitating mutual transfers for Grade III and IV government employees, making the process more seamless.

Furthermore, the Assam Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024, received the Cabinet’s nod, aiming to enhance efficiency in registering births and deaths across the state.
