Guwahati: The Assam government has taken an initiative to promote national and regional integration with the state’s first ‘Unity Mall’ (Ekta Mall) in Guwahati. The primary goal of this project is to create a common marketplace where products from different states, including Assam, will be available under one roof. The mall will offer a diverse range of items, including One District One Product (ODOP) products, handicrafts, Geographical Indication (GI) products, and various regional goods.

The mall’s structure is impressive, comprising two basement levels, a ground floor, and five storeys above ground, with various facilities and amenities. The mall will have dedicated shops for each state and Union Territory in India, outlets for Assam's districts, and spaces for Indian commercial brands. It will also include a food court, a yoga and meditation area, an art gallery, and dormitories.

One of the key objectives of the unity mall is to promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative, encouraging the purchase of local products among both the residents of Assam and visitors. By doing so, the mall aims to provide support to local artisans and producers, generating employment opportunities and expanding the market for their products to a wider audience.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in promoting national integration.
