Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is planning to close down financially unstable state-run entities ARTFED and Assam Government Marketing Corporation Limited (AGMC).
The decision, announced during an event at the BJP headquarters, aims to curtail the substantial losses incurred by these establishments.
During his address, Sarma emphasised that the two entities had been grappling with considerable financial setbacks for a long time now.
The employees associated with these entities will be accorded dignified exits from their positions.
The decision comes as a response to the long-standing issue of sustained losses that these establishments have been facing.
However, he quipped that the real impact would likely be felt by the roads themselves as they bear the weight of the increased foot traffic.
