New Delhi: Apple is set to open its first retail store in India after selling its products and services in the country for over two decades. The store will be located in Mumbai's Jio World Drive Mall and will offer a range of Apple products and services, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods, as well as support services like the Genius Bar and Today at Apple sessions.

Apple had initially planned to debut the first retail outlet in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plan was delayed. However, with the opening of its first retail store in India, Apple aims to increase its presence and sales in the country as part of its global strategy to expand its retail footprint by launching more than 200 new stores over the next two years.

The company has been making efforts to increase its market share in India, including offering discounts on its products and launching a trade-in program for iPhones. Apple has also been improving its services in India, such as expanding Apple Pay and launching Apple Music. In addition, in 2019, the company launched a new version of its Maps app in India, which includes features like turn-by-turn navigation and real-time traffic updates.

However, Apple faces challenges in India, such as high import tariffs, a lack of infrastructure, and criticism for its high prices, which are often unaffordable for many Indian consumers. Despite these challenges, Apple hopes to overcome them and increase its market share in India through the opening of its first retail store. The company also plans to launch a second store in New Delhi in the coming quarters, as it continues to aggressively hire employees for its stores in India.
