Assam Governor Launches Five Key Development Projects

Guwahati: In line with the vision of the Central and State governments, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya launched five major initiatives aimed at the holistic development of the state's people. The launch event took place today at Raj Bhavan, Guwahati.

The five initiatives include the Governor Assam's Pratibha Protsahan Yojana, Governor Assam's Vishwakarma Samman, Governor Assam's Award for Excellence, Governor Assam's Bhasha Protsahan Yojana, and Governor Assam's Varishtha Shikshak Samman Yojana.

The Pratibha Protsahan Yojana focuses on providing resources and opportunities for talented individuals, such as students, artists, and athletes, who face obstacles in their pursuit of excellence. The initiative offers scholarships, mentorship programs, and access to advanced training facilities.

The Vishwakarma Samman aims to honor artisans excelling in traditional crafts and technical skills, helping to preserve Assam's rich cultural heritage. Artisans will be recognized for their contributions and receive support for their work.

The Governor Assam's Award for Excellence will celebrate outstanding achievements in various fields, including education, science, arts, public service, and sports, inspiring others to contribute towards building a better society.

The Bhasha Protsahan Yojana seeks to promote the study and preservation of Assamese and other indigenous languages, encouraging efforts to maintain the linguistic diversity and heritage of the state.

The Varishtha Shikshak Samman Yojana honors senior educators who have dedicated their lives to teaching and shaping the future of students, acknowledging the pivotal role of experienced teachers in the state's development.

Launching the initiatives, Governor Acharya emphasized the abundance of talent in Assam, stating, "Many talented individuals are unable to progress due to various obstacles. These schemes will help them move forward and contribute to building a developed state and nation."

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the Governor expressed hope that the schemes would give recognition to the talents of Assam. He called upon the youth to nurture a collective resolve for a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, AIIMS Director Dr. Ashok Puranik, and Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram.
